Just curious, what kind of power steering fluid do you guys use?

I've got an AUII 2k Fairmont and I called Coventrys who offered me Motorcraft brand Power Steering Fluid with stock code R1424 for $15 per litre

What do you guys recommend?

I dont mind so much the cost, I just want the best stuff to preserve and lubricate the steering column

R1 424 is used for EF-FG. Ford lists R1 36 Auto fluid for EA-ED.

Series 1 of the EF's left the factory with Dex II/III ( R1-36 ) fluid for power steer fliud.
The EF's were turning that fluid black by 80,000km, and the racks were "squeaking".
So we changed the fluid to the R1-424 and in about 1,000km, the squeak was gone.
The series 2 EF's came with the new fluid.
At that time we were supplied with 4 litre bottles of Mobil 424 Tractor Tranmission Fliud to use before Ford had their own bottles of the stuff.
I was working on these cars when they were new at a Ford dealership. I was registered Ford Technician.
I does not hurt to run the R1-424 in earlyier Falcons. I even used it in the power steering of an XD V8 sedan. Been in there now for just over 5 yrs.
