Will my steering get hurt if without the power steering belt? Yeah, it handls like a tank but am I actually hurting the vehicle?

My fan belt snapped the other day, thankfully I was almost home. I've put a new one in, it seems to be seated fine and I am having no problems with it, but I couldn't get the power steering belt back on without mashing the corners off that bolt on that adjustable pulley. (Excuse the non technical words, I'm certainly no mechanic)

I'll get a better tool for it shortly and put that belt back on, but in the meantime am I going to f**k s**t up by driving it this way?

I've heard something about it being bad for the steering rack and whatnot, but I would imagine that if there is still fluid in the pump can't be that bad. Thoughts?

Rapier: Yep, it's an ED. It's a very sad ED, used to be a taxi. Still going pretty hard though.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably put the belt back on pretty soon, I'm just worried my steering will get hurt without it. Perhaps the rack and pinion in power steered cars are weaker than that in manual steered cars and can't take that much stress?

But if someone can go 4-5 months without killing it I think my car can deal for a few days (till it stops f**k raining at least). I'm finding it can be a bit of a b**ch to park but I still feel pretty comfortable driving it.

All in all, I think falcons are pretty robust, but mine is old and has been driven around the block a few times - I don't want to put extra stress on it.
