That steam and bubbling means your engine is overheating. And no it aint normal. Things to check are water level, thermo fan operation, thermostat operation. These are the basic things to check.
Why has it overheated? Have you noticed it using water? Is it leaking?

yeah cheers mate its not leaking anywere , so it must be thermostat /thermo related . ill get on to it anyway , the only way im losing the water is from it evaporating from the vigoris boiling thats going on yet the temp gauge shows normal running tempreture..

What was the reason you took it in the mechanics in the first place?

well one night on the way home from work the car just started losing power / surging. lifted the bonnet and the motor was really hot with stuff all coolant in it, yet as stated the temp gauge was fine, but the day before the coolant was was full.... got it back a couple of days ago now it runs fine and everything except for this boiling dilema ...

If there is no water around the temp sender then they don't work and will show "normal"... There is definitely water in the top of the motor/thermostat housing? To make the temp sender be working?

If water is disappearing and can't be seen running anywhere, then chances are you've got a leaking head gasket, which is possible if you boiled it...

Good luck with the hunt anyway... :?

Cheers,
Tim

I reckon it could be a water pump issue. if the pump impeller has corroded then you won't have much flow. if everything else is alright and it's still boiling then it might be an air pocket that needs to be purge. the other thing is, get another header tank cap.
