No to the second part of your question maybe to the first part depending on what extras have been done to the engine :D

whats advantage does an XR6 ECU have over standard ECU's??

Yeah same but I would like to know how it makes it go better, does it change engine ratios or something?

what would change,

ignition maps
fuel maps
shift points (if an auto)

ignition and fuel maps would offer minimal change unless you've done something else to your engine (upgraded cam exhaust intake?)

shift points, woul dbe screwy as the XR6's had a 3.45:1 diff, the GLi only a 3.08. So the shifts will occur at different speeds.

EF and EL I6 ECUs are NOT compatible.
