imo, i wouldnt bother putting a v6 in a falcon as it might be different, but bang for buck a 40l i6 will still perform better..
if you want to be different how about puting a v6 in something like a cortina?, atleast it will go better than a v6 in a falcon... |

any cheap v6 will probably be a waste of time.
first up the cost of getting it to fit. then getting some decent power out of it is going to involve custom fabrication and other custom parts which will cost even more. the 4.0 has so many options available to it, TT fits without much fuss. as others have mentioned, if you're dead set on doing an engine conversion, do it with something worthwhile like an LSX or 2JZ

Why not look at going diesel? musso/merc 5cyl turbo diesel motor and boxes are strong, cheap enough and torquey as all hell.

Theres a xa-xc coupe out there pumping out a cummins engine twin turbo diesel. I think their hoping to achieve around 1500 BHP. I saw it at the Summernats earlier this year.

Yep, totally agree - i'm only answering within the confines he has set - V6 for a grand? probably a commo.. ANY motor for a grand? Choice would have to be a ford i 6...

although a toyota 4.0 v6 or the toyota 4.0 quad cam v8 would have the potential to produce the power to satisfy, but the price would be out of his budget i think...

Or, as you say, Toyota V8? Yeh I reckon the straight 6 would be the go at the end of the day but hey, the guy wants to go the way he wants to go....

i'd go the quad cam v6 out of the explorer, my olds have an 02 mod one and its really reliable and goes well for a 4x4, iv driven a few, i really like them, i know alot of people have had troubles with them but we've had ours for years it has around 250000 ks on it and is great, but in saying that both my father and i are fitters by trade so yea it gets serviced well and maintained, iv never really seen it done but i think its a stupid idea to put a crappy commo engine in an awsome car like a falcon, but just my opinion.
