Hey guys, I'm installing a new exhaust but my tools suck and I'm really not too good mechanically.
I'd appreciate any advice about the best and easiest way to remove it, or even better if someone could give me a hand removing it. I don't mind giving some cash or a slab or something for the help as it would be really appreciated. Cheers guys. |

im guessing its for that EF in your sig?, it shouldent be too much diffrent from an EA, depends if you need to replace the middle part, or the whole thing, but all you will basicly need is a couple of spanners for the middle part, 2 bolts behing the cat and she will drop straight down and slide out, to take the exhaust manifold off is even easier, you can get away with a 1/2inch rachet set that you can buy from certain dicount stores for around $30, its all pretty straight forward when you start unhooking it, it might be wise to buy a gregorys manuel for your model car, mines been invaluable!.

There's bolts holding the manifold to the head - 14 of them I think.
Then two bolts and nuts either side of the cat converter. Two bolts holding the center muffler to the support. A exhaust clamp holding the tailpipe on - just undo the two nuts, the tailpipe should have some hooks with rubber hangers on them which just need to be slid off. it should all be pretty straight forward and easy to figure out when your looking at it. |

Im pretty sure its just the cat-back exhaust part of it. As he only picked it up last nite. But i have been wrong before.

that makes it even simpler. your only going to run into issues if the cat back system he got wasn't set for the length of extractors and a modded cat or something like that... |

Yeh it is, my mate and me might give it a try tomorrow night. I've removed a rear section and put on a new one before, I'm sure a second person and some decent tools I'd be able to do it. I don't want ya to have to come all the way from there hellbent!

lol if you have done the tailpipe section before then your a shoe-in for the middle section. Its pretty much just two bolts to the cat converter.
I drive all over Melb and country Vic every week. So everything appears close to me

OK my mate came over and gave me a hand and we ended up getting it off, so sorry for the useless thread.
Cheers for the replies anyway! The new 2.5" from hellbent sounds wicked, very happy with it! |
