I got a large flathead (like a long neck one, massive handle etc) and wedged that behind one of the nuts that are on the fan to hold it in place then used a spanner to get the nut off, not forgetting that it's reverse thread.

Although it's hard to explain without showing you, I found it easiest to lean as far in to the car as possible (on the left side), wedge the flathead down there on the fan and start to undo the nut from the far left - don't know why it was easier, meh.

Good luck!

1. Take the front belt off the balancer.

2. Get a 10mm short angled spanner and put the ring end on a pulley bolt.

3. Turn the hub clockwise until the spanner jams on the pulley and balancer locking it from moving.

4. Get some multi grips, larger spanner or shifter and turn the fan nut clockwise. It should unbolt easily.
