Hi all this is my first post.
I have an ed speedway car and have had a few problems with the rockers. The engine is stock internally with an Ivan Tighe speedway grind cam,Microtech ecu, AU injectors, Pacemaker 4480 extractors, polished throttle body, exteme top pod filter and Crow valve springs. I have broken the top off a rocker, fixed that then all the rocker shaft bolts came loose fixed that and now I have broken a valve causing major internal damage. I am wondering if there is an advantage of using the 11mmHLA or the 14mm HLA as after ringing a couple of "knowledable companies" got the opposite advice regarding the HLA's. The engine was dynoed and did have good RWHP considering mods

Welcome to Fordmods. I've been advised by people, in the engine rebuilding business, that the EF/EL rocker gear is better than the EA-ED rocker gear. They didn't give a specific reason as to why. Did you use Loctite to keep the rocker assembly bolts in place?

I'm not familiar with Tighe cams. But, at a guess, the broken rockers & valves are related to the lift in the cam. Stock EF valve springs were tested and found to be stiffer than the Crow springs (that I bought and didn't install). Have you heard of any other people having the same problems when using that type of cam?

what model is the cam out of as early cams and late model rocker gear do not match as the oil holes do not line up need the part number of the front of the head see this all the time as ppl put late model cam and rocker gear on early model heads and loose oil pressure to number 5 and 3 rockers and kill the motor

Did you check for valve spring coil bind????? Have you changed the cam chain tensioner to a mechanical adjusted unit instead of the hydraulic one?????

There are a couple guys here running Falcons in speedway, that run mechanical timing chain tensioners, and adjustable rocker gear ( took the HLA's out ).
