at the moment when my 4speed auto in EBII changes gears it kinda "drops the clutch"

rather than having smooth transition it has a change that feels like a bump.

tomorrow im gonna get new fluid, filter and gasket and have tranny fluid etc swapped.

any advice?

every change? or just 1st to 2nd?

A rough change between 1st and 2nd is likely to be the S5 solinoid failing. Its very common.

I suggest a full service, don't bother changing the fluid yourself its a s**t of a job. Tell them about the rough changes.

Umm noticable in 1st - 2nd and possibly all the other gears.

But i'll see about getting it looked at, i was gonna get a mechanic to do the fluid anyway. Was gonna give em fluid, filter and gasket and let em at it but i'll hunt around first to see about servicing it.

I don't like gearboxs, sound very exspensive, read on another thread about the s5 solenoid being like $350 bah!

Its not that bad, A service will cost around $110 anyway, Include the S5 and replace the rear bush with V8 bronze one. Total when I had mine done was about $300-$350 What I mean is its not just $350 for the S5.

Once its done your unlikely to have anymore trouble with it.

How much is it going to cost you to buy the bits and get the mechainc to do the job? Because all that is included in a service for $110 with most Auto specialists.
