Hey guy's just wondering if you can help me with something.
My 1996 el falcon is rough on Idle. :evil:

So far I have tried these;

Changed spark plugs and leads
changed rotar Button
Replaced distributor cap
Reset the base timing to top dead centre
Changed the temp sensor
Replaced O2 sensor
took off idle speed controller cleaned and replaced gasket
reset base idle
Checked all vacume hoses (all clear)
replaced fuel filter
took battery leads off to reset computer 3hrs
Map sensor (replaced)

So far haven't tried;

coil
fuel pressure regulator
throttle position sensor

i have racked my brain to the point I am about to give up....any ideas??? :evil:

could be your coil pack but also check it running at night with no lights and see if you can see any little sparks i had a lead shorting out last week and waited till dark to see which one and sure enough number four was shorting out.

Pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator when car is at idle, this will basicallly raise the fuel pressure in the rail. If the idle smooths out then I would be getting the fuel injectors cleaned.

intake gasket and ignition timing.

Dont take the timing marks as a given, took mine to a mechanic and was told after 3 different tests that showed timing = 0, it was actually 30' out

Thats very good advice Alan. I'm going to check my ED tonight as it idles rough too. (The leads are close to 5 years old so new ones are on the cards :)
