i locked the keys in the boot, and thanks to the marvellous auto lock if unlocked and doors not open system, they stayed in the boot.

i was in kuringai national park, time, 5:15, 15 mins before gates closed

situation: its f**k raining, keys in the boot.

pull out my fone to call NRMA. NO RECEPTION

time is running out, what do i do... the only thing i can...

i had to break the rear quarter glass...

s**t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone have any idea on a price of one of these from a wreckers, or any tips if i do it again!

Bad luck mate!

I had similar problem this morning, went to the carwash, pushed boot release button and got out shut doors (keys still in ignition). Turned out the BCM got it's wires crossed and locked all doors rather than opened boot (has done this once before in 2 years!) When i realised the boot wasnt open, went to open a door and found out they were locked as well! doh!

Phone call to home and spares were delivered (1.5hour drive though) and the queue of people at the carwash waiting to use it while i stood there reading a magazine was a bit embarrasing!!

Not quite as bad as having to resort to breaking a window though!

My aftermarket alarm auto locks the doors. I've never had a problem, but it's happened twice when it's gone in for a service - even when I told them not to leave the keys in the car.

mines the factory alarm...

any takers on approx cost from a wrecker?

and to top it all off, i have bruised knuckles and a helluva lot of glass everywhere...

just a tip, if anyone does end up needing to break the glass, use a brick or hard rock... sandstone doesnt do it, and its extremely hard to punch in :S

on the spares note, the spares are in qld at home, so thats a 12 hour drive!!!

im giving my best mate a copy of the key, so i can get in having the alarm blaring rather than doing it the hard way

Hahahha, we had a VP commodore we just finished working on, it was idling with the doors shut, windows up, bonnet up. Went to close the bonnet to take it for a test drive, and soon as i did the doors locked..

Yeah for some thieves they can be easy to break in too. As I remember when I was doing Security work for one of the most well known Hospitals in Sydney last year. We had 15 EF & EL Falcons get broken in too over 2 nights. The thing is people didn't know they had been broken in to after they drove off and thats when they noticed s**t missing from inside their Car! It was like some theif had got his hands on a Master key as the only signs of Forced entry was the Key hole covers had been broken on most of the Falcons :!:

to replace them on the au you can remove the whole 1/4 window/bracket/surround, and one side of the window rails, and it comes out like that... im hoping i can pick one up from a wrekcers for cheap, will have to wait till mon tho!

AND i have to go to macquarie fields tonight... looks like im not taking my car :S

You should have smashed the windscreen and then claimed it on your insurance :P

Quarter windows are often the hardest to come by at wreckers as theives often break them to get in as they're quieter when they smash. Breaking one of the regular windows would have been a better prospect probably...

My missus locked herself out of her festiva on saturday and the NRMA was going to be 1.5 hours due to being busy with the rain so I considered breaking it, but I would have rang a wrecker first to see which was the cheapest window to replace :)
(I ended up getting a piece of wire from a workshop a few doors up and borrowing their pliers to make me tool to pop the button up 8-)
I would have been screwed if it was my EF though!

i was gonna break the drivers window which has a nasty scratch on it, but following my mates advice that the quarter would be cheaper

not to mention it certainly is easier to patch up :D my plastic bag and scotch tape holds 120kph with minimal flutter :D
