Without giving too many secrets away 200+ HP at the wheels is pretty acheivable in an AU, as is mind bending torque (1000ft/lb)

lol. saloon cars don't have 1000ft/lbs of torque.

Hahahahahah - that first one was Tony Evangelou (ex supercar driver) and the car that turned in on him, and got spun is his team mate Geoff Brown. hahaha.

The one after that - When Geoff Brown spun the orange AU (Dave Heath) coming onto the straight - that could have been avoided, but thats racing for ya!

The National guys are crazy though - I would love to be up there with them battling, but I need a lot more experience (and a faster car) before I give it a try.

I am also a Victorian Saloon Car competitor. I actually have the Au Saloon car for sale in Geelong. It does need a small amount of work but the price reflects that. Car has the correct saloon car CAM and a good head package and currently produces 182 Kw @ the wheels. It only has a stock standard bottom end though.

Now that we can run E85 it is possible to get just over 200 Kw from an AU. Not going to give away exact figures as it does depend on how much knowledge you have of what can and can't be acheived by staying inside the rules and regulations. These cars are awesome fun to drive and are a reasonably fast track car if set up correctly. They can't even be compared to the older EA saloon cars as they handle so differently.

The older model EA set up to run on BP Ultimate that I used to have peaked at 176 Kw @ the wheels but on a race tune I only ran it at 158 Kw @ the wheels which basic rule of thumb most people take 10% out of it to help with reliablity.

Hope this helps with your power questions.

hmm yeah a NA 4.0l inline six producing 1355nm of torque... only 3 times that of a stock BA Xr6Turbo.

totaly believable.

I thought Saloon cars run a similer cam to a XR6? And bit different but not by much. Or was that Boxcars and VN's?

Na they apparently run a fairly heavy cam from crow, i doubt anyone that has one will tell you the specs though

Can you compare it to anything already available on the market?

RE: cam, look in the CAMS manual and get the part number, then check out crow, or contact them. the details on the cam wont be some big secret, everyone will be running the same cam...

I have seen EAsaloon cars on my105.com claiming to have 200rwkw, these were front runnig cars however..

The AUs are ALOT faster, however over in WA the VTs are generally the fastest, only a handful of the AUs are fast enough to push the VTs, however Clint Harvey did take his AU over to the National series and won it a year or two ago..

Anyone who claims they can get 200 kw's at the wheels from an EA saloon car is kidding themselves.

The best I have heard of but couldn't even get proof was 190 kw's @ the flywheel and that was a latest saloon car spec engine built to run on E85.

Most EA saloon cars are nowhere near these figures. There more likely around the 160-170 mark.

Crow cams have a contract to supply the cams and do not have stock them anymore to suit EA-EB series cars so you have to supply them a cam and they regrind it to spec.

As for the VT's being faster over in WA that is due to the track suiting the set up of the holdens better. At most other tracks the car are pretty even.

That sounds more like it. No one can get 200rwkw N/A, certainly not saloon cars with the controlled engine specs!
