I'm after a part number for the factory ford shims.. my engine's in pieces and I didn't have enough to finish my cam install. Gotta get some send over asap and it'd be quicker if I had the part number.

Cheers
Adam

Quickest way = phone ford spare parts and ask.

tried 2 different dealers.. both said they only do the normal 1.9mm tapered stock shim.

nah you misunderstood.. those aren't the right shims.. those are the ones that go at the top of the rocker arm.. I need the flat washer type that are just like extra spacers

That is all ford do. People who use facotry shims are using an extra set of those 1.9mm shims. If you want thinner ones get hardened washers from a hardware store.

I wouldn;'t be risking it.

All you do, or for the Wade regrinds at least, is use your original shims (ford put 1 set in the rocker gear from factory), and a second set of ford ones, so it is now shimed with two. Easy peasy.
I have posted the part number in previous posts ages ago when I did my cam and I put it in the fordmods part database.

I can't find hardened ones anywhere.. and I'd need 2 extra shims per rocker arm.. which adds up to over $120 for all the shims.. that's excessive.

Yeah it's complete bs.. plus if I use 2 extra sets.. the clearance won't be as exact as it would be with the shims I have already.

Ford only sell the 1.9mm shims now.. no more 1.6mm or 2.4mm.. That means I can't get acceptable clearances without using washers.
So washers it is.

Unless anyone knows where to obtains some hardened washers or 1.6/2.4mm shims?

Use existing shim + 1 extra standard 1.9mm shim = 2 shims instead of one.
We machine 0.075" of the base circle of each lobe. 0.075" = 1.905mm.
