$1000-1500 from a workshop.

Under $500 to DIY, unless the head needs to be replaced.

It'd be over a grand EASY... I'd expect about $1500 depending on the damage to the engine internals really...

Unlucky mate :(

Id hope not!

Ive reaplced my head twice now (both times done at a shop after splitting it under the camshaft), once under warranty. The first time cost me 1300, which included the reconditioned head and obviously a head gasket. The plkace I went to was fairly reasonable, and helped me figure out things along the way. After getting water in the oil again, they tried to pass it off as condensation due to a hgher compression and blowby, and that theyd seen it on many cars. It was leaking water but, so they had a search around, replaced radiator cap, cracked hose, and heater tap, which all needed replacing, for free. That being said, they didnt listen to my original instructions of putting everything broken back in the boot of the car, so i lost a full set of brand new plugs. Oh well, the second head for free was good enough for me.

i suggest if dont think you can do it or want to do it your self and are going to get a mechanic to do it, at least pull the inlet and outlet manifold off, undo the head and clean it up your self, then tow it to the mechanics yard and get him to do the rest, that'll knock off an hour or 2 off labour costs

took me 2 days to do my ea head gasket, only cause 3 of the bolts would not undo..

it cost me under 200 all up,,didn't need the head machined because it was still pretty straight,,and clean for that matter..wasn't to hard..

how the hell do you put pictures up here,,i've tried the buttons but it don't work

whats a head gasket cost to get replaced?

...might just be a good excuse to get a bank loan and go to ITS PERFORMANCE

I had mine done before christmas cost me just over $700, however there was nothing wrong with the head only the gasket was leaking externally.
Price included machining, pressure testing and inspection of head by All Head Services.
