Maybe its more fuel related, if it started and fired then you have spark, obviously you would have air so that just leaves fuel....

Maybe fire some "start ya barstad" down the intake manifold to see if the car will spark and run while you are spraying the fuel.... if it does then it most likely will be something to do with a fuel blockage or getting no fuel. Or pump fuse or something

Not sure if "star ya barstad" damages sensors... I've done it and nothing happened to mine. Maybe one of the other guys here might have some more info about that.

good luck :D

Rip off the PCV hose, get a little funnel, and pour some petrol down the tube, start the car & see what happens, if it will run for a good while or not.

Not too much petrol, you will just flood the motor. You might have a blocked fuel filter or a buggered fuel reg.

Cheers

ok so it was a f**k fuel reg swapped over now
but now im sort of double guess the timing
here is what i did

remove the rocker cover and ahnd turn the crfank till the marking on the cam gear is 3 degrees above the head and the mark on the crank is lined up with the one on the motor marked as TDC
removed the dizzy and reinstalled it with the rotor pionting at the number1 lead on the cap.

ok after all the when you try to start the car flames are firing out off the throttle body now the timing light i just brought dosent even run so im going to have to take it back(a waste of my lunch break  )

so what i guess im asking is, is this the correct way to set the timing??????

I always do the pull out No 1 plug, get someone to turn over the engine by hand and stick my finger in the spark plug hole trick... so I know its on compression stroke... set it to TDC and check the dizzy and if wrong put it in the right spot.....

File comment: so with the motor set to TDC on piston 1 ive removed the dizzy
and reinstalled it with the rotor pointed at the number1 spark plug lead
with the firing order as 153624

There are 2 cog slots on the dizzy shaft that will slide onto the aux shaft and seem right with the position. What you have done is got the wrong cog slot and thus retarded your timing heaps. Remove the dizzy and slot it in on the next cog tooth..

Cheers...

Yep. Are you sure your on the right TDC, as in on compression stroke?

Cheers

You sure the distributor rotor is turning?

Checked ecu for fault codes? If you have already done that, do it again.

Cheers
