the smart lock on my EF XR6 immediately unlocks when it is locked. On entering it needs to be deactivated before the engine can be started but again activates when the engine is started. can anyone help to rectify this.
Thanks

theres miillions of threads on this topic, do a quick search.

you got a bung lock actuator, very common on EFs and to a lesser extent ELs. best way is to try and find the one thats broken then fit a new one. that usually fixes the problem for a while.

good luck with it

it seems as though he is referring to something different ... having your locks go up and down is a regular problem granted: but not allowing the car to start is not!!

Got any more info??

This is what happens. When the smart lock is activated( on leaving the car)it locks but immediately it unlocks the doors. The doors can now be opened but you cannot start it. When the remote is pressed it enable the ignition and the engine can be started.

It seems like a faulty switch. I have stripped the doors but the units are sealed and I am therefor lost.

This is what happens. When the system is armed(on leaving the car) it activates but immediately unlocks the doors. You can then enter the car but it will not start untill it is activated(unlocked) again. Then on activation/starting the doors are locked but immediately unlocks again. The engine however starts and you can drive away, untill next time.
