In E series falcon, any real beneifit from adding to Smartlok security system. My Ghia has the standard Sentry car alarm, they good or crappy?

Is it better to leave as is, replace with better alarm or just add kill switch or some other form of immobilisation.

I want my ford to be where I parked it.

It depends. The smart lock acts as an engine immobiliser. Basically there are three sensors in you car (i know of one from top of my head - Ignition barrel) and what happened is all these 3 things have a code. If two of the three codes arent perfect the BEM (body electrics modual) kills the injectors and starter motor which = car still there just inus sterio.
I know of a mod a friend did where he put the smartlock in his EA fairmont, it worked.

Its probably easier to go to jaycar and get a engine immobiliser and alarm with cent locking

I rekon it would be a bit of an a*** to get into a non - smartlock falcon, but i may be wrong. All it does is amke it so traditional hotwiring doesnt work, which is essentially what any immobiliser does.

How does the sensors work?

I cut a ford key and it worked, there is no microchip in that key. I didnt have the keypad remote near the car?

Further, I tried to start the car whilst the alarm was going off, started straight away???

There is an optical sensor inside the igniton barrel which will prevent a successful start from forcing the lock/barrel.

so is it a good system?

Out of 10 compared to other anti theft systems?

3 out of 10?? 6 out of 10?

Worth upgrading?

i wouldnt bother hey.. if your stressed get an aftermarket one and leave the smartlock too, but be prepared for big problems chasing no start situations as u will have a rough time proving which immoboliser is at stake

theres 3 things it can be, ignition barrel (electronic lock assembly), wiring, or the module itself...
