Hey, having a bit of trouble with my ef Fairmont. I did some work on it today which included.
Plugs
Leads
Air Filter
Oil Filter
Oil

It smokes a fair bit when it is started and smokes under heavy acceleration. When it idles it is ok . The smoke is more blue than black. would the next thing to look at be valve seals?

He said blue smoke.

Firstly how many K's is on the engine?

Blue is burning oil, so its either:

Stem seals (you hope)
Piston Blow--By
Broken Ring/s

Or just plain tired.

You can get a leak down test to find out where the problem lies.

The bottom ends are pretty robust, it my be time for a reco head.

Alas, try a heavier oil, or even an additive.
but note, this is only patch up.
