I do not know about the AU3 XR6 but I have a AU2 Tickford V8 it gave better pickup and at $37 from FORD is great, I think the fitting instructions is in Forced Air Workshop (you need to trim about 2-3mm off lower front and drill 2 holes for mounting screws)

Sorrey, my motor is AU2 XR6 (in a EL) but the Snorkel is the part for the V8 Tickford

Some say the xr8 is bigger, others the el-gt. It will make 5/8ths of f**k all difference either way.

I don't think the AU XR6 snorkel is bigger than a base model snorkel (anyone confirm this?)

I have the AU XR8 one (haven't seen an EL GT snorkel so i can't compare for you unfortunately) and quite honestly i don't think there is a difference on a mostly stock 4.0 between stock and AU XR8 snorkel in terms of performance.

I may have picked up better throttle response, or slightly better economy, or it could just be my subconsious justifying spending the money i dunno.

Get the BA XR snorkel, it's identical to the Tickford (Which is now obselete) but doesn't have the wings.
If you notice the difference then you're doing well.
I fitted one of the huge mouth Aunger intakes to mine and haven't noticed jack s**t.
I think the best gain will be at higher speeds.

I thought there was a problem with fitting the AU XR8 one because it was so high it was blocked off by the rubber on the bonnet edging, meaning it didnt get any better flow than the original. However I dont know how the GT one bypasses this.

AU XR8 is better from what I've heard, but you have to mod it to get it to fit, where the GT is a straight bolt on... TBF have a How-to guide for the AU snorkel if anyone's interested.

You only have to trim about 3 or 4 mm off the edge for it to fit snug, no biggie.
