On saturday I bought this...

And then got it towed home yesterday.

I have plans for it, mainly cosmetic (au side repeaters tommorow woo)... but I also plan on getting it running, this is where I've hit a snag.

The guy who I bought it off of has jumbled up the wires something shocking, so I've taken a few pictures to try and see if you guys can help out.

Some more details, its a EB falcon... the engine I was told is a EL but it is obvious that it is EF, there is two harnesses in the boot that were previously in the passenger side footwell... both with the ecu connector but both different... I'm not sure how these are supposed to plug in, one is what I assume to be the EB one the other has to be an EL one.

The windscreen is cracked and the hoodlining is sagging, from what I can tell the power steering pump pulley has a crack in it, theres no plate between the engine and the plate between the engine and the auto is missing, the starter is in the boot with one of the new taillights and the harnesses.

I'm buying an EB engine harness this weekend along with an EL dizzy, from what I can gather I can get the car running on the EB computer and harness with the BBM and then convert it to the EL computer once I get my smartlock bypass... right? Also getting the davies craig thermo kit to run the fans.

I need pictures of stock wiring, diagrams, suggestions on what to do, suggestions on what books I can read from the library.. etc etc. Thanks guys.

PS.
I'm in Logan, QLD so if anyone is around that can help can you pm me please?[/img]

How committed are you to making this car work? for the price you paid, a fair bit of money could be made from wrecking and then crushing the car.

The body is perfect, the engine has 120,000 km's on it.

I'm willing to spend up to a grand getting it running but I'd prefer if I didn't have to spend a grand in parts (smartlock bypass etc) then then having to get a sparky to wire it up anyway, the only problem I have is the locations of the wires and the harnesses and how it all fits together.

thanks Mitch_..

I would remove the current looms (EF/EL) and use the EBII/EB engine management looms then just run the extra wires for the thermo fans and the BBM trigger, and use an EL dissy, and ECU..

Thats what I plan on doing, but because its in such a mess, I dont know where anything plugs into anything else so I could use some pics of closeups of complete EB engine bays (I've already got my brothers EL engine bay for reference)

Hi.

I saw this on Ebay and thought it would make a good project start.

The difficulty as you have stated is that you don't know what is good and what is bad.

It would appear from the photos that a fair bit of work/bodginess has gone on with the looms. It seems that the engine bay loom is from and EF and is somehow mated to the EB dash and body loom. You would need to trace the looms back under the dash and see if it all connects correctly there as well.

As suggested above, you may be better off starting with complete standard EB looms.

Tomorrow I hope to have an update on my thread re my conversion to and EL engine, BBM and ECU into a pre smartlock EB.

BenJ

They'll be plenty helpful I'm sure, but I wouldn't mind more pic's if thats no trouble :)

Anywho plan of attack for the weekend;

Install the Davies Craig thermoswitch kit, remove the intake manifold, remove the chopper wheel distributor thing, install an EL distributor, install the EB engine harness on the manifold, replace the manifold, try to make sense of all the wiring as I go along.

Tommorow the AUIII indicator repeators should be in the mail, so I'll put them on the side when I get home :D

Next week if all goes well with the engine hookup, I'll be putting my new headlights in as well as getting it prepared for roadworthy.

Good buy, The EB harnes is still attached to the firewall so all you ned to do is match the plugs to the correct engine harness for the EB.
Install a Dizzy and EL Ignition Coil and then swap over the ECU. I beleve the EL ECU will plug str8 into where the EB one was.

Time it up and its a runner.
Then later on add the BBM Stuff.

Dont worry about the Thermo Fans if you using a after market Controller.

Got the dizzy and the engine harness, working it out now... I dont think I'll get it running today because the wiring is everywhere but I'm hoping it wont be longer than a week.

Edit: hrm... I should take a pic of my shiny new indicator repeaters so it looks like I'm making progress -_-
