Thanks....managed to get to it from underneath but the damn thing still isn't running right.

I pulled lead 6, engine ran the same. Plugged it back in, pull lead 5, same. Repeated with all leads, none made a difference to how it ran. WTF?

Have you checked your coil for cracks, or the dizzy cap for erroded carbon brush???.
