was reading on another site there was a stuff up at the ford factory around march 97 with the conveyor belt systems. it resulted in engine X not being in chassis X and so on. there were 16 motors taken out of the line and had a tickford T embossed on the head.

i just came across this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/EL-XR6-Cylinder- ... dZViewItem

what do you guys think?

I still dont get it. They made thousands of those heads who cares if they accidentally put a couple into gli's?

you can see one of the 'special heads' by following this link,
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/EL-XR6-Cylinder- ... dZViewItem

sorry to be a smart a*** but if their was a stuff up then the only difference would have been a standard falcon getting a ticky head, they would not of made them any special just for the conveyor stuff up you mention.
think about it.

has anyone seen one of the 20 motors? could that be the head from one? thats all i wanted to know? where'd they put the T?

well it could be .but you cant tell by looking at the ticford head the only way you could tell if you brought a original car with the original engine and if its not a xr6 and its got this head well there it is..

and the t is always on the front of the tickford heads..

but other than the tickford heads the engines are the same anyway..

I dont think you get it. All tickford heads have a T on the front. The out of sync engines are just tickford engines that made it into cars that were not optioned with them. There is nothing special or rare about the engines at all and there is no difference between them and every other tickford engine that was made.

So there are thousands of tickford engines in xr6's and 20 or so in gli's because of this mistake. If you want to see what these 'special' heads look like open the bonnet of an xr6 and pretend its a gli.

And ford DID NOT stamp a T on the front of these because they are 'special' engines. The article just says thats how you tell the difference between the tickford and non-tickford engines (They are cast into the front of the head). That ebay auction is for EXACTLY the same head as these 'special's ones because there is nothing special about them.

So what makes these special? You couldn't buy a gli with a tickford engine so the fact that these cars exist is a bit of a novelty (kind of like a POV pack xr6).

thats an idea, next time I'm selling a Tickford head, I'll make sure that I've mentioned its one of the "special" 16 production gli for a quick sale gimmick. :P
