the standard tailshaft isnt designed to spin faster than 180kmh. the xr one is alloy and can cope with it.

(RUMOUR ALERT)

I got told by a bloke at work that by reversing two wires somewhere down near the fuse area it lifted the limiter.

Can anyone confirn if this is a load of "i tell lies" or is it true?

I'd put money on it being a load of "i tell lies".
The speed limiter is programmed into the EEC.

Im going with a load of lies..
The only way that is remotely close to what he is saying is to remove the VSS Out wire from the instrument cluster.. speedo gear goes into cluster, and then normally to pin 3 (EB/D/L) on the ECU.. disconnect that and ECU thinks you are doing 0.

Not to mention that I agree with the rest of the people on not doing those speeds...I tailshaft goes snap at 180, you'd be wishing your limiter was set to 60.

Atleast put on tailshaft loops.

Cheers

They are limited because of the tailshaft

My car has no limiter - or so I'm told, but geez I've never tried to get up to 180! Seriously why would you?

I did 215 in mine once. Traffic is very scary at that speed.
