I tend to observe coolant at midway when cold, full when hot. Theres a reason the pressure goes up, the coolant expands...

not taking sides, but my car(s) too.

Always usually fill them up to the MAX line even when cold & never have any issues.

The max line is the most you want in and the low is the minimum. Obviously.
When you fill it to max and it heats up and expands there's plenty of room for it above the max line.
If you're getting that much fluid to spill out just from having it on max id say you need new coolant.

Wouldn't a low glycol % high h20% cause the coolant to expand more noticiably. Boil even.

Alot of the time this happens when people try to retain the 'full' level in the res when cold. Theres a high-low mark for a reason, if it's full when it's cold then it heats up, mix expands & exits through overflow. Paranoid person thinks something is wrong and keeps topping up the res and viscous cycle begins.

Not saying this is you're problem but it happens. & would be the easiest to fix :P

I was refering to this.
If this happens when you have the res at the top mark then something is wrong.

people run water and they don't boil. it'll be the cap. not holding pressure will lower the boiling point of the water

Or an excessive pressure issue, like a clogged radiator. IMHO, get a pressure test and a Tee Kay test done, replace the cap and go from there.

Definetly. I'd go cap, then other steps if you have to. Cheap before the expensive options!

sounds like the old coolant is dying to get out of the current setup.

It (the coolant) prefers the pavement as aposed to the radiator LOL
