I put a bottle of wynn's injector cleaner in. I haven't used it enough yet to report though (but good so far).

Just a suggestion, which I'm assuming you've done, have u gone through the steps of resetting the ECU? Mine was doing exactly the same thing (stalling and revs fluctuating when coming to a halt) but then after doing the reset, it all got cleared up. I'm no expert, just my two cents:)

Well, the ecu was reset when i installed the motor, and has been reset a few times since, so may not be the problem.

I'll report again after doing some more kays with the injector cleaner.

in reality, injector cleaner is a Q&D fix. the fuel only flows one way and it would force any crap it could squeeze through the filter.

give the throttle body a bit of a clean out first.

Fuel pump is my guess or the fuel reg may be faulty?

When I had starting issues it was fuel pump both times.

What do you mean by Q&D?

Already done.

Starting is actually fine. It seemed to become a tad slower to start a few weeks ago, but it hasn't been that way recently. Maybe the injector cleaner has brought improvement, or maybe just some other factor(s).

I've checked the vac line, but i do have a spare MAP i could try if the injector cleaner doesn't fix things.

That sounds quite different to my scenario. Mine has only conked out during deceleration. If mine is hesitating, pushing the accelerator solves the problem. Mine has always started fine.

Any suggestions?

This happened to my first car (a 90s laser) it was stalling whenever I drove very slowly or was stopped. My way around it initially was to not go slow... Had a good time explaining to the 4 cops who followed me home from Maccas why I was driving so fast through the McDonalds carpark at 2am with a carload full of 17yr olds....

That has been my hunch, i have wondered if it might just make it passable, whilst leaving heaps of gunk behind.

The thing is, if the injector cleaner shows improvement to the symptoms, then i can place a bet on them being the problem. So the cleaner helps my diagnosis. I could then resolve the injectors properly.
