Some of you guys might remember i had a problem a while ago with the car not revving past 4800rpm. Well it will rev past 4800rpm but its struggling and takes too long, so in a drag race i am actually losing time coz i have to shift just before 4800.... :( I coudlnt actually hit the rev limiter ....
Since then ive changed MAP sensors and fuel filters and all that crap and it hasnt changed anything. I havnet tried a differnet fuel regulator yet.

Some guy told me he had the same problem and he tried everything but it still didnt fix it, until he put a new cam in.

Well i put the wade 1004-112 in last week and it hits the 4800rpm spot struggles for a short time then shoots straight to rev limiter. So its still got some sorta lag in it. Not a smooth rev all the way to limiter, like my mates EA.

Could it still be the fuel regulator? Before the cam it blew alot of speed smoke, but now its blowing alot. I put my hand at the exhaust tip when its idling and i get covered in fuel. Then again i dbout it is the fuel reg as she will still hit limiter..

Also when i race, it will rev smoothly to rev limiter in 1st but then in 2nd and 3rd it will hit the 'lag point'....

i was thinking to myself and since it has the AUTO ECU in it, could that be the problem? Maybe the computer is wiatin for it to change, but coz ive got the manual im confusing it? and i dont want it to change?

If that makes sence at all..

any ideas?

Did you take any steps to fool the ECU?

I wouldnt think fuel reg - these are controlled by vacuum so fuel pressure is maximised when the foot hits the firewall - no matter what RPM the engine is doing.

yeah i was thikning maybe its putting in to much fuel, hence the fuel smoke pissing out.

But my mate did something with the vacum line to check if everything is alright.. and the reg seemed fine.

i dont think anythings been done to fool it, which is why im thinking the auto wants to change but im not letting it coz i want to rev it out and it gets confused for a second..

Maybe its just a symptom of the car running too rich? I know all falcs run rich but shouldnt be to the point of dutching.

Been on a dyno recently? How was the a/f across the range?

nah havent been on the dyno. But id love to get it leaned up a bit more haha

the fact the car lags for a bit at 4800-5000 then continues to rev freely all the way to limiter, suggests to me, it cant be a over fuel problem, otherwise it wouldnt continue revving if u know what i mean?

I still reeccon its loss of spark and the fact that its rich isnt helping.
Mine still makes top rpm at 10:1 easly

but why is it only at about 4800-5100ish i get no spark and then all of a sudden its fine after that?
from 5200 to 5700 (limiter) its normal.
its just at the 4.8-5.1 point that its struggles.

k, i reccon.....

Fuel maps are linear, and you will find at that point it is the most fuel hungry part of the entire map, even more then 6000rpm+

So if you got a lil fanny spark, its goin to struggle burnin it and become rich

for what it's worth, if your plugs/leads haven't yet been changed, just change em, so you can rule out one more thing.
make sure you set the gap right.
how long has it been since the injectors were cleaned?
