too my cam in today for a re-grind. My mate at the cam shop said the EFi OHC I6 doesn't like much of a cam thrown at it without chipping the computer.. and if you go anything larger mild it can often make it slower of the line.

does all this sound correct?

The cam needed regrinding anyway so he has one profile for a stock ECU that we can put on it, pretty mild though which is okay cos I don't want to loose bottom end power.

What are the specs on the profile your looking at?

not sure.. it's just a mild street regrind I didn't bother asking for the specs..

First id get the specs. At least then you could see how other people with similar profiles do and it will help you in the future if you decide to upgrade.

Generally speaking, as cams get bigger idle vacuum decreases and the ECU has trouble understanding whats going on.

I'll get the specs when I pick it up.. if its the only performance re-grind profile he has I don't get much choice.

I can always chip it and buy a shelf cam later if I feel the need..

If i were you id be sending my cam to wade cams (www.wadecams.com) and getting them to regrind.

They do alot of good profiles, ive picked up about 30rwkw from just a cam and exhaust.

Prolly cost less too.
