the day before all ford day and my auto in me ef ghia has sh*t the tin. she is stuck in reverse. you can move the shifter backwards and forwards and dont make a differnce. ive adjusted the shifter linkages and still nuthin. anyone have any idea how to fix? besides takin to a tranny shop.

try unplugging all the electrics from the box... it is possible the ecu has s**t itself... altho if it drives backwards all the time id say not...
unplugging the electrics from the box "should" make it be stuck in 3rd gear for forwards movement, altho i could be wrong about this |

so is the car cranking, have u check the inhabitor switch

the auto will still shift from P, R, N and drive even if the comp has gone nuts, it just wont go from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. it sounds like the auto is either low on fluid or the fwd band has dropped on you.

aw, i was hoping the shifter was stuck cause i was gonna suggest the size 11 left boot
worst comes to worst just reverse everywhere 
its fun, i did it inbetween 2 cars ina car park doin like 20k's not the smartest thing ever, but my mate wasnt happy that i chose the far end of the car park, altho the guy behind me gave me a strange look

Ok the technically cant just break as you say, unless the gearbox input selector shaft has snapped, so does it go click moving between gears or just dead silence.
If its going click then how can it be stuck in reverse, possible neutral saftey witch problem. Dead silence - get it towed to a auto trans place.
