just drop the box, and lift it off the mounts, just enough that you can get in there to do it. If your gonna pull the sump off, get a spare one and get an oil pick up line for when you eventually want to give it boost. Just whack a bung in it.

Sump gasket is an easy fix in comparison to putting a DOHC engine in.

if its still the factory gasket in there, its a good chance only the bolts have come loose, they are a very good gasket and rarely leak from my experience.

The OE sump gaskets do shrink over time, and the OE sump bolts do have blue thread locker on them, and you can sometimes get away with just tightening them.....sometimes....8mm heads....you will need various length 1/4" drive socket extension bars......done this many, many times.

Sump gaskets are the death. especially cork/rubber ones!!

One of those things you really need to get right the first time.

DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL WORK ON AN EL BUT YEARS AGO I MANAGED TO DO MY EA. UNDID ALL THE BOLTS DROPPED SUMP ONTO K FRAME AND THE WIGGLED SUMP GASKET FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER. WAS A PAIN IN THE A** BUT BETTER THAN THE OTHER OPTIONS.

EL OE gaskets are one piece rubber and plastic construction...they are very good gaskets.
