I have a surge tank in my ED sedan, and not only the boot but the cabin of the car STINKS like petrol.

There is an aluminium box made up for the tank but it isnt doing much in regards to fumes.

Anyone know what type of material i can possibly put on the inside of the box to reduce the fumes? i was thinking some sort of sound deadener...

its really bad...

thoughts?

thanks.

How is the surge tank set up? In my old EA, I had petrol fumes in the cabin due to the petrol pump seal not being replaced when I replaced the pump...causing vapour to seep out slowly and overnight it would fill the boot and a bit into the cabin.

I suggest you get seals checked out, a leaking fuel system is not ideal for any application.

What kind of fuel lines are you using to and from the surge tank? All of them emit vapours except teflon braid or hardline as far as I know.

check for leaks around intake manifold as well. petrol fumes from leaking intake manifold find their way into cabin though fresh air vents

i think its more so because i have a mechanical fuel pressure gauge IN the car that clearly says on it 'do not mount inside the car'...
