Hey all, Iv heard a bit about the manual conversion really livening up the I6. Thoughts and opinions?

Also, does anybody know whereabouts i could get a manual box for the EL without having to pay an arm and a leg. I keep seeing that people are picking them up for about 400 bucks but i cant find prices like that anywhere.

What things do I have to change when installing the box? Do I have to flash the ECU etc..?

Cheers for all help :)

manual is probly the best thing to do IMO the shorter gears help it off the line get some 3.45 diff gears also and you will be laughing

I have a manual conversion in a eb falcon $500 as is in the car im in mackay and other then the car you would need a manual ecu or do the resistor trick to trick the computer into thing everthing is ok

cheers
kelv

Look on eBay or wreckers, after having a auto ef and then going to a manual el xr6, manual is so much better, more punchy, takes off quick, not laggy at all, manual defiantly will wake it up

I've just finished a T5 conversion and picked up my gearbox off ebay for $350. They come and go throughout the year so keep your eyes open. Ring a few wreckers and see what they have. Usually full conversion kits.
I ended up getting mine reconditioned as 1st and 2nd were thrashed, and i got new cones etc inside. But that's the gamble with all gearbox's. Cant see what's inside til you have one.
