anyone know rod lengths for the 250 and 4.0?

also need to know if they have the same deck height...

250 and pre AU engine have 5.88inch rods, AU has 6.060inch rods, the rods you'd need for this are 6.00inch small journal chev rods. (small journal is 2.0inch) large journal chev is 2.1inch)

All you need to do is work out the assemble length of the rod/piston PLUS half the stroke.
then to work out if the strocker will fit. take half of the new stroke add on the 6.00inch rod and find a piston with the right bore size and compression hight to make up the remaining.

fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/6cyl-piston-rod-comparison-updated-11-12-09-t85150.html

Just don't think that because the numbers add up, that it is going to be easy.

has any one thought about what to do with the chev rod being far to narrow for the ford crank pin?

i believe their problems are stemming from bore size, not stroke increase.

in the i6 engine there are 3 reasons why the chev rod comination won't work (that is being cost effective) & 2 have being mentioned on this thread & trust me there is more than 120 thou that has to be taken of the crank..........

remember too that the 120thou you guys are talking will only get you too 105mm stroke.
on a stock bore that is only 4.2L engine,
But first you would need to find a rod that same or slightly larger bigend width

and with 80 thou over pistons it comes close to 4.4

Isn't standard stroke 99mm? 120 thou is 3mm. That's 102mm and do we add another whole 3mm for up and down travel? 105mm...
Isn't standard bore 92mm? 80 thou is 2mm. That's 94mm.

4.37 Litres?????

96mm bore x 99mm stroke = 4.3 litres.

I can see that, failing other options, to get bore of 96mm you're going to have to make your own pistons.....?....?

Okay, I promise to butt out now. Cheers.

stock stroke is 99.31
120 thou is 3.048mm
if you offset the crank 120 thou you gain 120 thou at the top and at the bottom of the stroke, so total gain 280thou.
machining tolerance being what it is in mass produced engines a rounded every thing and came up with 105mm.

That with 80 thou pistons will give you 4.419L If you look hard enough you'll find alot of parts that come close to fitting. but how long do you think it will take to find a rod with the right big end bore and width, the right length and small and bore that will fit the piston of the right bore size and compression hight?

now can you guaranty that the crank you have will actually take the machining needed to make it all fit, and will your block take the over bore?

there are reasons CMS have taken this long to get things happening. and it's not because it's easy to do.

If you grind the crank pin down 0.120"...you gain 0.060" from tdc ( crank to deck ).
What rod length were the old 250ci Chev sixes???.....or was there a 292ci six.
What about the 300ci Ford pushrod I6????

how do you figure that. by grinding it .120 offset you're adding 0.120 to the throw of the crank. Thats 0.280 to the stroke.
