Two problems that are pissing me off, got any answers?

a) Squeeking - OK, Since I got back from queensland my left hand rear brake squeeks when I apply the brake, Sounds like a cable squeeking or something.

b) Idle - Started the car, and it died straight away, wouldent idle with out me holding the revs up. After a while it was OK, also smelt very fuely.

As for the idle, first thing im going to do is replace the leads and plugs, and clean my air filter. Any other suggestions?

How long havent you driven the car for?
It sounds like problems from not using the car for a while.
I am not using my EF XR6 at the moment but every couple of days I start it and use the aircon just so it ticks over occasionally.

Take it for a bit of a drive and use everything and see if it goes back to normal.

Edit- dont ever think of buying holdung either you'll have more problems than just those two.

I drove a WH? 1999 statesman caprice the other night, very comfortable, heaps of features, genIII 220kw stock; sounded hot when given a boot full.
Other wise it was a bouncy squeaky pos that looks s**t in white lol!
Id consider buying a grange now in the future, if only it was "holden" brand and didnt have that UGLY grille..
Im still impressed at how she went lol.

Lol, yeah nice way to give someone a heart attack.

I'd definately have a look at the ISC as you note it appears to be a lack of throttle preventing her from starting properly....

And go from there
