How do you go about cleaning the TP sensor? I'm OK with the TB and ISC. Same for the TP?
I've got a slight misfire and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. Filters, plugs etc all done. Leads and coil checked. Search done on forum; I reckon I've read all the posts on rough idling.
Also seems to be a bit sluggish on take off after doing the full re-learn. If I just disconnect the battery for an hour or so, reconnect and forget about the relearn procedure, it picks up quicker, but misfire is more frequent at idle and auto gear change not as smooth.
Also surges a little bit, particularly when cruising up hill with cruise control on. Revs don't fluctuate at idle (apart from the misfire), so I've ruled out ISC.
I'm wondering if all this is related. Bet it is - but what's the problem? Something to do with fuel I assume. Have run injector cleaner (the stuff they use at Alcoa - F10) through. Slight improvement, but still there.

If you've got ideas, let me know. I'm on the list for a LPG kit to be installed, so if it's fuel related, I shouldn't have the prob on gas....

From the problems you describe the TP sensor is not the problem. The TP sensor actually does amazingly little as far as controlling the engine.

yeah all the tps mainly does is tell the ecu the throttle position so it can change gear appropriatley,,it rarely effects idle and won't cause miss fires..i'd be looking elswhere....

in my falcon at the moment, ive got a huge flat spot in the rev range.
when i hit 2000 the car stops accelerating, then all of a sudden it acclerates really hard.
could this be a tps related problem.
ive done my dizzy, leads, plugs, coil, whats next.

I get that problem too...

around 2000rpm it hesitates/flattens out then once i hit about 3000rpm it starts pulling again..

EL xr motor with bbm, xr reg and ghia ecu, manual...

I havent done dizzy, leads, plugs or coil but wondering what else can cause it?

i have a similar problem to original post i have a black 99 xr6 its just had o2 sensor bosh super 4 plugs and full reset of e.c.u but still have an awful misfire on occasion at idle .Its also had a brand new fuel filter and all coil packs checked the only thing left to do is put new injectors in as i have done the same put injector cleaner through and cleared it up no end but keeps coming back. All i can think of after that is poor fuel quality and it seems to be quite commen here in brizzy apart from that i have no idea either. suggetions would much appreciated

exactly waht i have mate, motor runs perfect after 3000rpm.
i put my mates TPS on my car as he has an EL as well, and problem still remained so its not the TPS. maybe injectors.

fixed my problem, the harmonic balaencer had moved a little, so we just advanced the timing to just before it pings.

I have a similar problem with my ED turbo at idle it stutters like a very quick jab on the acc but throttle is not being opened, ive reset the TPS (calibrated it with the EMS ) and still flutters between 1% and 30% with 2 different TPS's? so its unplugged and dont do it no more, but Id like to know what the cause of this is before I fork out $90 for a new one.

Car is a ED falcon running a AU motor, BBM, turboed Intercoold etc 42Lb injectors Bosch 023 pump XR6T fuel rail and reg, all controlled by a EMS 4424 v4 ECU

whats the acceleration enrichment set at?
if the ems is using the tps aswell as the built in map sensor, the tps is used to effect the acceleration enrichment response times.
