My mate ran a 15.06 with a series 1 AU Falcon Manual, totaly stock, just LSD, so i think the EL XR6s would be pretty much the same as that.

I had a 1993 EB2 Gli in the fam since new. Was originally a company car - my uncles, i got rid of it at 430,xxxkm's never done a gasket - I dont know why it was always given a hard time, however all fluids were ALWAYS kept up.

Had to dig this one up with guys saying "190,000 with no gasket issues" well beat mine *lol*

Only got rid of the car as the auto started playing up ( auto same from new also), and needed cruise for my work drives + timing cover was pissing out - Car only ever had one issue- which back in 98 "we thought was major" ECU replacement.

This car decided my future for me.... FORD ALL THE WAY!

O.K. I'm home and according to Wheels, here's the facts:

EF GLi (4.0) vs EF Fairmont Ghia (5.0) vs VR Exec (3.8) vs VR Calais (5.0)

EF GLi 4.0 with 3.08 diff = 0-100 in 8.9, 0-400 in 16.6 and 100-130 in 6.8
EF Fairmont Ghia 5.0 with 3.23 diff = 0-100 in 9.8, 0-400 in 17.2 and 100-130 in 7.5

how'd they do compared to the commonwhores?

Sorry guys a little off topic here but still about 6cyl & v8.
If the new GT falcon is suppost to be the top of fords fastest car then why does the the F6 smash it all over the track. :?
I love v8's & have owned a xw cleveland powerd 600hp. But turbo is the way to go in todays age.
My opinion is the tickford 6 is faster than the windsor 8.
Another reson why FORD f**k up there 6's are faster than there 8's. I my eyes that is a joke.
Has anyone seen a HOLDEN 6 faster than there 8's. NO.
I do love my FORDS 6's & 8's. If i build another fast car i will build a 6 turbo.

if you keep it stock go the six seems to have more off the line than the but there are more lemons wit the 6 sadly but if your going to spend money go the 8 cos an 8 is an 8 and they have a whole heap of potential were wit the six once u are up 2 turbo stages theres not alot more u can do

I've had good experiences with the E Series and head gaskets too, but the problem still lies there, waiting for the car to overheat just once, and bang there it goes. If the head goes as well, kiss goodbye to 2k if you're not mechanically minded.
sub 14 seconds out of a stock E-Series XR6. I'm calling anyone to prove that. You could have a freak one, and still wouldnt get better than low 15's. I'm not being arrogant, i'm just not stroking my own ego.
Try exhaust extractors, a better cold air induction and perhaps you'd get it.
The sprint should pull into the 14's no probs.

A lot of exaggeration here.

My ED has a broken cluster temp gauge, and a falcon coolant tank, so there's no way of monitoring the cooling system.

As a result it's ran out of coolant twice. First time no coolant in it for over a week, second time I had LPG and the converter froze up.

I've also had air in the head from when I incorrectly changed the coolant when I was clueless, thermostat opens after 30min to have cold water touch an extremely hot dry head.

It's not an AU gasket it's ED.

No s**t but stock tyhey are 147 for EB/ED's and 157 for EF/EL, by thge way the XR8's are 170. So wink at your f**k self, dumbass.

that was the S1 EL the ef was 165:wink:
still 170 didn't make them faster then an xr6 did it

by the way no need for petty name calling and swearing.

Your right the ef 5.0l was a 165kw engine or 260hp at the fly wheel according to ford. Although the i6 has good power gains for little outlay the 8 if you make the sucker breath will will tear the doors off a good 6 pack.

How did you come up with that figure? Cooking variety windsor is 221hp at the fly.
A AU 200kw Is just over 260hp - not the 165 lol
