Hi,
I took the Mrs Hyundai out for a thrash. I came back and the car was ticking rather loudly. I was a pretty hot night. I let it idle for a while and the ticking sound got really noisy and then would fade away to nothing and then a little later on come back noisy again?? When driving on the road, the car is quiet and perfect. When idling the car ticks away intermittantly?? car has 78,000km,oil changed about 4000km ago. what would it be? tappets? anything serious?

by the way it had better be a Tiburon/Sonata/Santa Fe/Terracan to be in the 6 cylinder section

Hi but what could it be? just noise or could there be something wrong, lifters? tappets?

hi but does it matter what it is? it should be still under warranty so tak it back to the dealer and let them work it out

Take it back to the dealer dumb a***, it could be a few things. take it back to them and say fix the bastard.

Yeah but you take it back to the dealer and they must have too much wax in their ears.
They say no the cars perfect, nothing wrong with it, they cant hear any noises. I feel like whacking one of them and stick his head under the hood and beat him up until he can hear something. Ill hang him off a cliff and ask if he can hear the ticking sound. I just want to be able to point the finger at something so they can at least put it on record and if something happens down the track after the warranty ends ill say i told them before and they ignored it.

how about you point your finger at the tappet cover and say "listen to that noise you idiot" when it is actually making the noise
you say it goes away then comes back. its a bit hard for a mechanic to diagnose a problem if ot isnt doing it when you go in there. you need to go and see them when it is noisy. f**k

Or better yet dangle you off a cliff and see if you apologise then. Im asking a fair question, Im hoping there is people that know what they are talking about on here not people who throw in a few swear words in second word.
