now should the timing mark be spot on with the mark on the timing cover or should it be move forward a bit? i got a EF check timing thing from FordFairmont or is that the same for EL

Remove rocker cover, & use 22mm socket to turn crank to TDC mark

Mark on the balancer should be lined up with mark on timing cover, while the cam gear mark should be within 3mm above the head.

Also, No.6 valves should be 'on the rock', meaning the exhaust valve should be shutting and inlet valve should be opening.
