Hi fellas / Gals

I've got this problem with 1996 xh 6 pack ute ..

After a engine rebuild ( Complete ) I can't seem to get the timing right
I have done all the typical procedures indicated in the workshop manual ( Shorting the pins under the steering colum ) ect .. The cam timing is correct .... The car seems to have a gut load of grunt and just made a 13.23 pass at willobank .... But the idle is up to s**t ,it sticks on all the time for e.g . I'll pull up at a set of lights and the sucker will stick at 2.2/5 thousand till i ride the clutch and bring it down .

The accellerater cable is fine and the intake manifold has no leaks ??? I'm at a loss here fellas please help

Jim ..... This is driving me up the f**k wall!!!

Just did a 13.2 pass?

With the mods it takes to get that time i am not surprised the computer is having trouble with the idle.

I had trouble with my xh doing exactly the same thing. The problem turned out to be the sensor on the power steering rack. its an idle up switch for when power steering is at lock.
Look on the driver side of the rack but under the bonnet as some of the utes didn't have them. But I'd bet Toddys left nut that that is the problem.
