Well I got Pacemaker tri flow extractors with a high flow cat 2.5" system with 1 Lukey race muffler and twin tips at the end.

It was drony until I got a stage 3 crow cam put in, now it is just lumpy and great.

So if you want a louder/better sonlding exhast, put a aftermarket cam in. Dont go bigger than 2.5", and use just 1 strait through muffler. If you have a standard cam, use a hot dog at the rear.

Also tips do change the sound, a little bit. Until now, I had a big oval, was very loud, now I put on a twin 2" tip exhaust, bit quieter but better Quality sound.

Farm equipment or not, thing's still have to make the grade to be used on the road. I think what the point is, is that Harleys have always been loud, and they come loud form the factory as standard, it's not an aftermarket part. Whereas our loud exhausts are aftermarket, not manufacturer endorsed and put on for performance, so the cops love to give us grief. And under the law they can.

my friend has a 5 litre holden vt and took out all the mufflers, and it sounds like an animal throughout the whole rev range.

No doubt it does. So, it's just straight pipe all the way from the cat? Apart from the fact that'd be waaaay too loud to pass inspection, the fact there's no mufflers also earns an instant defect lol.

well i changed my oil today from castrol gtx3 15W/40 to castrol GTX2 20W/50, and my exhaust note has improved heaps, doesn't sound like a tractor anymore. Also the pacemakers are not making a loud cam overlap noise anymore either. Looks like the thinner oil was causing all my exhaust problems.

Please explain this theory.
I am unlearned in the art of oil based exhaust note tuning.

I think I read something about this in another thread discussing oils. I guess it's got something to do with how the thickness impacts on the moving parts in the engine? FIIK, lol.

ummmm can i point out that harleys do get pulled over by the cops for being to loud, and i have been many times, even with harley made screaming eagle pipes. there are still noise restrictions and you can only run exahust pipes that are stamped with a EPA stamp **screaming eagles arent** and if it aint on there you get in s**t and they tell you that you have to change them over and go to a police station. my uncle and i carry the originals in the carry bag and swap them over in front of them, and get them to sign it off... then drive around the block and change em back.
