that would be pretty much spot on, hose to heater core or heater core itself.

Could also be heater tap the can split and leak badly.

yes that is the heater tap. the vacuum hose open it and lets water into the heater core.

rather than not use that you would be better off by[passing the heater core, otherwise your water is always going to go through it.

they arent that expensive to replace though

Well if you don't want it to run hot in the car then I'd bypass the heater core all together.

considering it is colder weather now (f**k weather) I'd say let it run through the heater core over the next week or so and then get it fixed.

I just fixed mine and it cost me under $100 to change all the hoses for the cooling system as well as the heater tap itself. I think heater tap was about $25 give or take.
