I can get a hold of a ba xr turbo engine conversion form a wrecker with harness, engine, gearbox,ecu and all fittings and accessories, but I have been told even getting all the harness and computer that I would need to use an aftermaket computer on the engine because I cant mate the au bcm to the ba one and that the ba computer uses a link system where it talks to seven other little modules in the harness that control other stuff like a/c and navigation and so on which aren't needed or used on a au, is this true, or is there another way around it? I rang nizpro and they told me it wouldn't work on the standard ecu and would cost alot to get to work on standard ecu, they surggested to use motec computer but said it would cost up too $6000 to get it too work on the egine which I nearly died when I heard the price.

This is fairly consistent with everything i've heard about transplanting a BA engine into an EEC-V vehicle.

Too much effort/money.. Better off turboing your current engine or find the turbo off an XR6T instead.

Everyone says too much effort/money, where I agree I also think that you should do it. Who else has an AU with a XR6T engine in it? that and you would probably get an aftermarket ECU anyway, to do mods to the engine. That, and the BA engines are very good ones, nice power outputs, and I say worth it, if you got the cash and the paitience, go for it, it would definately set an example in the FORD community.

There's no point in transplanting the BA turbo engine if for cheaper the same gains can be reached by a custom turbo job on the current engine... |

Well the BA motor doesnt fit under an EF bonnet we know this, so will it fit under an AU bonnet ? , I think the rocker sticking out of the bonnet looks plain stupid.

Well thats good to hear, I was told you can buy a short motor from ford for around $2500... anyone know if this is crap or not?

why not use your AU computer to run the auto trans and your smart sheild ect.
you could use a AU throttle body so you can use a cable. aftermarket computer autronics ect.you dont need a motec system for this application in a street car. easy and what a conversion!! we have sold 2 BA xr6t conversions 1 for JET XR 1 went to QLD for a CORTINA 
and we do have one at the moment $7500 complete or $6000 without auto |

mmithought the au throttle body wont fit the ba motor as it fly by wire and sits lower on the manifold/rocker cover than the au
