well we bit the bullet and pulled the head and the wrong gasket was covering half the water journals and the other half are chockers with solid clay stuff....dunno how it didn't fry itself  so am looking for a wreck or can get a reco'd one with freight for round $500 then $90 gaskets plus oil etc ...is this a good price ? Once its back on, I'm hoping thats what the missing was all about

Got a price on fixing your head up? or isn't it worth it?
If you are going to replace the head I'd go the reco one for $500 and get a warranty. I wouldn't put on in out of a wreck, as it could require reco'ing and probably cost you even more.

the local bloke quoted me $50 to weld the journals, $250 to do the valves and another $250 for the timimg chain tensioner/guide then I'd be up for gasskets etc on top of that....then they tellya to shop locally
when i get the same deal with freight for over $100 cheaper....would rather just swap motors with me first Ea but the old man has busted his hand up and all his mates are invisible when there's work mentioned so I really hope this solves the problems
