You need to use the self test mode to set the base timing with a timing light because this mode stops the TFI module from making timing adjustments. Outside of the self test mode the TFI module will be moving the timing around to optimise the running of the engine, and you can't set the base timing.

Altering the static ignition timing to suit lpg is not the correct way about it, lpg needs an ignition advance greater than petrol at idle and an ignition advance less than petrol at high rpm!!

Where did you get these from?

I have found that advancing the dizzy for lpg gives more power and does not cause pinging at the top end. That doesn't mean it's necessarily the best timing for the fuel, but it seems that way when you drive it.

umm i will find it sometime, it came up in the first few google searches using "lpg ignition advance"
