WTF? is that electrical tape over the intake?!

Maybe someone did this to prevent dust getting in. Pitty it also stops all the air! I'd say remove it.

no... its silicon sealant....

NO mechanic has commented on it... that opening is blocked, and instead, there's a hole cut in the bottom of the pipe... so, the engine is sucking hot air in straight from behind the radiator... :?

slightly off-topic, but family friends of ours had their EF serviced by lynford over here - called me up wondering why it was running so hot - seems the fraud mechanics decided they didn't need an intake snorkel at all!

well... you seem like a smart bunch....

why the F**k would anyone do this?

Image

basically, it meant the engine was drawing air in straight across one of the radiator hoses.... that means... 60+ degree air going into the engine... (at a guess)

lol someone hasn't exactly put too much thought into that intake setup! :?

get yourself an XH ute snorkel - thats about the best bet for any EA-ED's, without going *too* crazy!

yes it will suck in hot air thus its expanded and not as much Oxygen gets stuffed in each cylindor...

it would affect it quite a lot and now that it works beter u will have WAY better response and probably a decent amount more power (esp at highger revs when the engine heats up more)
