CURRENT STATUS = BBM in, timing out - stopping it from running
Image

ok i was going to wait but im no good at waiting... the headgasket in my car is gone (water dripping from under the exhaust manifold) so over the coming weeks (hopefully 3 as i am on bare minimal moneys, working saturday and only have weekends and its just me) im going to be doing a few upgrades to my car... as it stands its an APPARENTLY stock 3.9 but feels a lil work has been done, only thing good about it is a half desent body, 2.5 inch sports exhaust with high flow cat and i recently installed the velour interion minus one missing trim (rear left). the mods to follow in the next few weeks are as follows

new head gasket but with 4.0 head
aftermarket cam (unknows spec - apparent stage one RPD)
EL rockergear
thermo fan install
BBM install (jaycar is out of RPM switches so i have to wait for that to switch the manifold)
power windows
new uncracked grey dash (currently blue) - possibly painted black
possibly climate control depending on loom(s)
and if climate control goes in ill have to go digital dash.
engine bay painted black - heatproof enamel
EDIT: FORGOT THE LSD TOO
and last but not least.... T5 gearbox with HD clutch

if the loom gets changed to the EB loom i will be going EB tail lights to suit the loom but am unsure at present time as i also have a EA ghia loom.

so hopefully if all goes to plan it will be one mean streeter when done.

i have all the wireing sorted out. its all straight forward to get the BBM working, you simply swap the plugs on the loom to the EF/EL plugs to suit BBM - there colour coded so its almost impossible to get it wrong.

i soldiered mine up properly today and wrapped in heat shrink tubing, then in corrigated tubing to protect it a little more. i will also be hiding as much wiring as possible

this car about 6 months ago was a CPI (carbie to some people) and i helped my mate who owned it at the time to convert it which took us one weekend from start to finish, not knowing a thing before we started so this should be a piece of cake.

*note* this BBM setup came from an EB witch had the setup running but not too well. (done by alted performance) ill be using all the same parts.

the car also dosnt have aircon so i might have to fit the pipework to the front while im at it.

as stated im on minimal cash so bare with me as i try to do as much as possible in the 2 hours of light a day i have to work on it and work around my GF and work on the weekends. i hope you all enjoy and im happy to answer any questions

the car when i got it earlier in the year
Image
including cracked paint on bonnet
Image
and crap door trims (free to anyone who wants them or there getting scrapped)
Image
Image
painted the rear
Image
and the BEE motor
Image

the motor now has a black rockercover and standard fuel rail

Image
Image
Image
i fitted the new doors and bodykit from my wreck
Image
also painted the rims (well one side then got bored)

so thats the history so far.

here are the upcoming parts

the T5 box
Image
the clutch, nice and yellow
Image
the BBM (yet to be painted - alted painted it while he was working on it

the loom for the BBM sorted

this pic shows the wires colour coded (EB loom with EL plugs)

*note these wires have been redone, there no longer dodgy*

and SOME of the other parts ill be using

tomorrow ill update with photos of the wireing redone.

EDIT: added LSD to the list... i forgot about that :P

I know the history of some of the bits you have there, BTW you used that head I brought up for you? or you gonna use it.. that was a 4.0 head.

Man you had your work cut out for you just buying the POS PPG.. spent more time painting than enything else.

I think a good fire would be a fitting end to The PPG.

Good luck with the project dude, I'll be up soon enough to have a gander.

na cant set fire to it as it would kill the grass and we have a huge party soon. both sheels i have sitting there (the solver one that hoon used to own that antony also worked on, will also be going in the next week or so. they need to be lifted over the fence but unfortunately mt dads crane at full extend can only lift 350KG which sux, so he has to get his boss's truck over the weekend to lift them over the fence.

cleaning of the BBM and other parts will comence this afternoon after work. ALL wireing and tubing will be worked out and hopefully attached as much as possible before it all goes back togather.

hell no. far from it. he ripped everyone off and all his work wasnt dodgy... it was down right dsngerous. such as his work allowed fuel to fill up inside the boot (he warped the fuel pump cover) wit a 9 month old in the back seat... one spark and BOOM... i have that car here but with the fuel pump is now siliconed up

interesting.... I was going to buy a cam off them. Is the dodgy-ness one of the reasons they are no longer a sponser of this forum?

Also, it should be intersting to see how your car performs with the BBM and boxcar ECU. Becuase i am wanting to do similar in the future but don't have smartlock either

yeah thats pretty much why. he has sold his car and moved house and not contacted anyone.

yeah i have to wait for the RPM SWITCH from jaycar as they are sold out

so for the time being it will be zip tied about half way to hopefully achieve best of both worlds

update:

todays work wasnt much but progress was made.

I:

- taped up the loom
- zip tied the corrigated tubing
- undone the loom and tubing from the BBM itself
- removed the throttle body

the BBM is now ready to be painted. i am going to stuff the intake pipe and pipes near the block before i paint it to stop crap from going inside the manifold.

i will be treating it with some cleaning fluid stuff first

Image

i also made a new air line for the fuel regulator.
Image

old hose was for some reason cut on an angle??? dunno why but i think was a issue with the old motor.

i used some spare hose that was sitting in the wreck

Image

with a bit of purswasion it went on. you could see the old hose was the same size so there is no restriction. its just the new hose is a denser rubber
Image

then i measured it up and cut the new tube to the right size
Image
Image

HAHAHA and stupid me i was sitting there thinking where the F**K DO THESE WIRES GO???!!!
Image
then i remembered there was the temp sensor ect lol...

this pic shows the BBM with the wires poked up to the throttle body. the loom WILL be put underneath the BBM to hide as much wireing.
Image

i also picked up some paint (6 litres of black) for a desent price, so the engine bay is going black, aswell as the BBM, so hopefully all that will show up when the bonnet is open is the rockercover. altho i am tempted to paint it silver but then the wires will show up more.

so i guess no one will know till i paint it tomorrow.

any sujestions?

not much went on today, but it was an important update. the better half and i took a trip down to jaycar in aspley this morning and i picked up a frequency switch so that the BBM will switch (can also be used for thermo's for intercooler when going slow, shift light ect) so i soldiered all that togather to find ONE relay switch thing missing (not to mention the instructions pretty much gave you 2 pictures to work it all out of) so i have to ring jaycar tomorrow after work to get a replacement relay switch thing for it or a whole new kit. if they refuse to help me out ill be calling up whiteknight as he works in jaycar down in sydney and he said he will sort it for me.

i also ordered and picked up a EL headgasket in protorque brand. i have never heard of it before but im told its better then easyfit so i must be ok then :D

while i was there i also picked up 2 more cans of black engine enamel.

i would have pics but i got p****d off when the kit was missing a part. oh and there are 2 switches in it which dont match the instrustions look exactly the same inside and out but have different codes on the front so i took a guess. i guess when i hook it up ill know weather or not it works. its a shame i cant test it before hand.
