I gave the car a bit of a go so to speak, heared a loud sort of bang noise, then constant 'tssssssssssssss' sound. red light came up on dash. EA falcon MPI 5 speed.

Pulled over to find steam coming from engine, then it proceeded to spew out green fluid which i guess is from the radiator.

Now i'm no mechanic by any means but will try fixing it with some mates when it gets light, what is it that has gone wrong?

Any advice much appreciated.

Most likely a radiator hose, or cap.

make sure when you fill it back up, put some more coolant in with the water :D

green fluid is most likely coolant from either the radiator or even a hose has come off

when there is some light have a look to see if there are any hoses missing or off

Sounds like a hose of some description. It's a bit hard to say which one though.

happed to me, and the car went all sluggish, the heater hose before the heater tap under the intake manifold split, so run your fingers over the hoses to check for splits.

alright will do thanks for the advice guys.

initial thoughts was one of the hoses came off under the pressure, i'll check it all in the light tomorrow morning.

also if it is any use, the car feels as the it is stalling while im driving it. this usual? its a manual car, and when the revs get low and you are in gear and its about to stall - thats what it feels like. kind of jerkey. which makes me worried it might be to do with the clutch? but gear change is fine....

anyway i'll check tomorrow hopefully its just a pipe that has s**t itself.

blown a chunk of metal out of the radiator.

new one going in today.

also the clutch fan has a couple chunks out of it so i guess i'll be putting in some thermofans.

i'm just wondering though why it feels very bumpy to drive, like its about to stall (but not stalling). Can anyone help me? I thought it might have been due to the clutch fan being a bit broken?

and a red light pops on on the dash cluxter at the bottom but i dont know what it means.

Are you sure no engine mount bolts are missing?

My driver side engine mount came loose somehow and let the whole clutch fan scrape into the radiator when I droped the clutch! I bought a new mount thinking I broke it, turns out some bolts were missing... though I think someone might of been stuffing around with my car at the time.

Make sure that light isnt anything to do with oil pressure

problem fixed new radiator in.

i should get some pics because yep it was a tremendous effort :)

i rekon one of 2 things either the hose (short one from radiator coolant tank to top of engine) came off and took a chunk out of the clutch fan which went into the radiator and cut it up.

or the engine lifted since one of the mounts is coming loose and pushed the clutch fan into the radiator and that did the damage.

thanks for the advice though, will now be putting in thermos since the clutch fan is semi-rooted.

aha i'll get some for you guys, uckf'd it real good. i think the shuder is from the engine lifting, i must have ripped a mount and that made the engine and hence clutch fan rise and smack the radiator.

pics soon
