I have an xf ute with 4.1 and carby. There is no fuel in carby when it sits for 3-4 hours. Can anyone help me out with this?

Sounds like the fuel pump might be stuffed.

I have an inline fuel filter between tank line and pump, it has only a small amount of fuel in it, I was wondering if system is draining back to tank? fuel bowl seams empty as well?

ute did the same thing 2 weeks ago, fuel tank reads 3/4 full, checked tank and guadge is correct! when i put fuel into carby throat a couple of times and eventually motor runs, seams like the motor speed pulls the fuel up from the tank and it runs sweet again!

It's hard to say, the two times that it happened was once after sitting at work for 8 hours then once when it was running/idling then it stalled and then wouldn't start. It has started first time every time in between. It is driven every day.

Thanks for your help cjh. I think I may need to take it to my mechanic in the morning. I use the ute for my business so I have to make sure it's reliable. My neighbour is wrecking an XF wagon so I might see how good the fuel pump is in it.
