what should i be looking at when looking at used cars, like what are some important things to notice.

i dont wanna go out and find a car that runs well and feels great but find out something is wrong with it.

are there any specific things that are easy to spot on falcons that could lead to major problems?

and how many k's are too much.

There are a number of basic checks you can do yourself, such as looking for rust, checking door seals and dash controls, as well as a quick engine inspection to make sure there are no leakages.

If you're happy with the overall look of a car, it's time to take it for a test drive. Some dealers will even let you take the car home for a weekend so you can really try it out properly. While driving it, be weary for any rattles or squeaks, and make sure the steering/brakes/dash controls all work properly.

If you're then happy with how it drives, then the car has passed all the superficial tests. The REAL test is to then have an independent inspection done, the RAA can organise this for you for a small fee. They will then let you know of any major/minor repairs that need doing.

Number of k's is a tricky issue, because it really depends on how 'hard' the k's are. You could buy a BF Falcon with 30,000 k's on it, but those k's might've been done with burn outs and lots of short trips. The 'best' k's tend to be those clocked up with long, continuous driving, as opposed to short, hard trips.

Check the sills for rust. Reach in underneath the car and feel all along the sill for rust.

Check all the seems for rust in engine bay and door hinges etc.

Rust is a big thing for me as you can tell.
