Has anyone seen this? As far as I can make out, it's a collar that fits around your fuel injector which is supposed to increase fuel temperature and result in more efficient combustion. It's maker claims 'something like up to 20%' (up to includes 0) increase in fuel economy with no loss in power. They also claim that cars requiring premium will run on standard unleaded.

It sounds like a load of rubbish to me, much like Peter Brock's infamous polarizer (see http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/article.html?src=suggestions&A=0632. I just don't see how a metal ring could have such an effect - after all, if it was that simple, wouldn't companies which huge research and development funds (mostly Toyota, next Ford and GM) have figured it out long ago?

Their website at http://vaporate.com/ has all the usual testimonials and diagrams which border on meaningless, as well as an annoying flash intro. The scary thing is that some reasonably major companies like Repco and Ultratune are backing it.

A quick google didn't turn up much. Am I completely wrong? What are other people's thoughts on this?

well i can see how it works, more the fule is heated the more it will vaperise, getting a better faster burn, which is why they say ur car can then run on regular unleaded, this will proberly work fine on the cheaper cars like ford holden, where they return the fuel back from the engine bay so the fule stays cool. but on most european cars, they have there fule reg either in the tank or at the fule filter and so then the fuel stays in the engine till it gets used and can get hotter to atomise better, which is all that this device does.
so yeah can see it helping on cars which have the fule regs in the engine bay

That stuff was on some A Current Affair program tonight it looked like a copper ring that heated the fuel as it passed through the injector thus giving you a 20% improvement as to whether or not it works f nows but as it appeared it was of two piece construction for a simple what looked like 12mm (washer) dunno mite work...
