hey guys I was in moms car yesterday and notice it was reading 15.5L/100k
which just seems crazy compared with the 10-11 I'm getting in the ef, admittedly i"ve got an exhuast sytem but otherwise stock.
Especially since she's an even more conservative driver than me. I know she running the cc constant, but still.

It's an AUIII fairmont ghia, with the VCT 4L 6, dead stock, with i believe 150k allpark, and it seems to be running fine, doesn't seem to miss or anything.

Anyway just wondering if anybody can give me some ideas to why it'd be chewing so much fuel, might get her to check the trip comps accurate.

edit by the way not on lpg and hasn't been as far as I can workout, but only has a standard snorkel not a ticky one, dodgy dealer I'm assuming.

im using 15 ltrs per 100km city driving (like fordom short trips ,stop start)but it goes down to 10 ltr 100 on the freeway...

if it using more than it has previously the o2 sensor might need replacing??
of air filter might be due for a replacement??

Maybe because she drives it gently its all carboned up. Stick a tank of bp ultimate in it and give it a pizling and see what happens

Yeah those figures seem a tad high but then again the VCT loves eating fuel around town like most big cars. I assume your mum's car is auto with adaptive shift? You could try putting it into economy mode but i don't really think it makes a difference though...

I agree with ebxr82nv however, put in a bit of premium and fuel economy will be much better, it's worth the extra 8 or so cents with cheap fuel atm!

You should also check tyre pressure. It makes a big difference, especially with my 18's anyway..

All the best.

Well I'd say I driving closer to the city but then again it' generally more like 30-40 odd k's and i try to keep my self pacing rather than real quick start then jump on the breaks I'll coast a bit. Where as i guess she probably does a lot more 10-15km sorta short trips.

So it's probably about right for the car? jeez
So the vct are particularly hungry interesting, and with adaptive shift, not a clue but i might check into that, anybody tell me how you change it. also might tell her to throw a tank of premium in see how it goes.

The filter should be good as where trying to keep some special warranty which means regular services, got no clue about the o2 sensor..
